During a visit from the Bees to Mount Mercy on Saturday, March 30 where they dominated their rivals with a 22 to seven win, fifth-year senior forward Lauren Hoesly managed to be involved in nine out of the 22 goals the team scored that day with five goals and four assists, earning her the top spot as all-time points leader.

Hoesly remembers the moment with enthusiasm as she says, “I remember it clearly. I got a feed from my teammate and best friend, Delaney Austad and hit the goal top shelf. It was awesome to celebrate and jump around with them after the goal and take in the moment.”

The Oconomowoc, Wisconsin native attributes her parents for her hard work and pushing her every day to become better and earn this record.

“It was a huge accomplishment and goal of mine going into this season. My parents always told me to dream big and this was definitely that big dream I had for my lacrosse career,” said Hoesly.

Hoesly is ending her Lacrosse career for the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees with 160 total career points with a 51-pointer for the 2023-24 season. With 54 total games played throughout her career, the fifth year has always been one to play for the team and it is shown as 98 of the total points she has come from assists, and she thanks her teammates for their contribution.

“As most of my career points have come from assists, I literally could not have done it without my teammates also scoring and making huge plays off my feeds,” Hoesly added.

Unfortunately, the Bees could not conquer the Heart Conference Championship when they fell against their rivals from Benedictine on April 20, ending with a (9-3, 4-1) overall and conference record.

Hoesly praised her coaches as they helped her with, “So much support, confidence, and determination towards me as a player and person. I have never experienced such an amazing and supportive coaching staff as the one we have right now at Ambrose. In addition, our trainers Sam and Sydni were always there for every injury, low, and high times on and off the field. I am so blessed to have had so much support for me as a player, and they really shaped me into the player I am today.”

But her contributions to others do not end here as she is looking for her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at St. Ambrose and looking to graduate in December of 2024. She says and hopes, “To give back to the community through volunteering and coaching young lacrosse players to grow the sport”.

We wish her the best of luck in her future projects and defending the hive with pride! For more Women’s Lacrosse team record book and information visit their website. You can also see their episode of Inside SAU Athletics.
