Undergrads Showcase Their Hard Work
From visual arts to scientific research, SAU students showed off their work at the annual Undergraduate Scholars Conference. Topics included subjects like biology, criminal justice, or detailed portfolios with work in graphic design or art history.
In addition to current SAU students showcasing their work, a few SAU alums came back to show off what they did with their time at St. Ambrose.
Ashley Steele, who graduated in 2018, and her husband Keegan, presented their lives before, during, and after their time at St. Ambrose. From career options, to how Ambrose shaped them into the people they are today, Steele says, “The diversity of classes that we were able to take here as well as a different perspective that we heard and also the wonderful faculty and friends made our St. Ambrose experience what it was…it felt like that is what allowed us to be successful.”
“The Buzz” also spoke with junior Kirti Mann, who was a moderator for the conference. She gave us a rundown on what the event is all about. “They prepare you for this conference, and they help gain those necessary skills, so when you go out and get your future degrees for that path you may take, you are well-prepared and have some experience.”
Finally, we spoke with junior Adeline Smith studying graphic design. She gave insight on the students showcasing their work through posters and more physical work. “I declared my major at the end of my freshman year, and have been just growing my portfolio ever since, it’s really important to me to showcase like all the hard work I put into the last few years.”
