KALA-FM, the public radio station at St. Ambrose University, experienced technical issues last week that caused it to go off the air for roughly 24-hours.
Their issues began Thursday afternoon Mar. 4. Friday morning, Mar. 5, they were back on the air. KALA-FM worked closely with the university IT department to fix the issues.
“The 1,2,3 studios and an on-air control went down and all of our online streaming,” said KALA-FM Operations Manager David Baker. “We were not even able to do any kind of production in the studio so we had to shut everything down.”
A managed computer switch was the assumed main cause for the technical issues.
Baker says he received a flood of emails and phone calls during the shutdown. He is thankful KALA was missed.
“The amazing thing is all of the phone calls and emails I got,” Baker said. “People were concerned where we went so we know people are listening and that they love KALA.”
