With the SGA’s elections officially over, juniors Matthew Ardaugh and Kirti Mann are ready for the Fall ‘25 semester as SAU’s brand new SGA President and Vice President.  It was a full ballot, with Matthew and Kirti taking on fellow candidates, Jaxson Eisenbarth and Jack Day, and Taylor Snook and Kaiya McKinley, on April 3.

One of Matthew’s main goals for being president he says is an overall better “Ambrose experience,” and to “make sure there’s experiences and opportunities available for every student involved on campus.” One of the biggest plans Matthew says he has for campus is bringing a lot of vacuum cleaners to the dorm buildings on campus, as he says the ones that are provided don’t work very well. Matt is hoping to look into making vacuums more accessible to everyone on campus.

Another idea Matt says he has in mind is more student body involvement at sporting events, as the population and energy for sporting events has dwindled in recent years. Matt says he’s hoping to put more pep and spirit back into the sporting games.

In an interview prior to the election, we also spoke with Matthew’s running mate and Vice-President-Elect Kirti Mann. In Kirti’s own words, she and Matt “want to have a different voice, a different perspective and just overall a different alternative,” and “as a vice president and president we will be a great initiative in general.”

She then explains how her role as an SGA senator really inspired to want to help out and pursue bigger and higher roles. Kirti tells us that Matt and her met earlier this semester, and decided that they wanted to run together because of their similar goals and initiatives.

Kirti and Matt say they are hoping to bring what they call a “diversity of perspectives,” which means seeing and bringing together a different world, and having more of a community involvement, including the campuses clubs and activities.

The Buzz asked Kirti what she thought about the campaign and other running mates, and she said “it was something that was very humbling and overall grateful to be part of this election.”
