Quercus Previews 34th Edition

St. Ambrose’s creative arts journal, Quercus, hosted their journal release event on April 30th. The event consisted of sneak peeks from their 34th volume that went live on their website on May 1st.

Contributors of the journal had a chance to showcase their writing, artwork, and audio/video pieces at the gathering. Many people came together to celebrate this year’s volume.

“It’s one thing to read someone’s work in print and it’s another thing to hear them perform it. It’s one thing to see in the journal, their painting artistically, but to see it up close on display is another. So, it’s a different way of experiencing the creative work that’s in the journal,” said Emily Kingery, Quercus Faculty Advisor.

The 34th volume is the first volume that includes audio/video work since the journal went digital three years ago.

“I really like the addition to Quercus to have the A/V section and I think there are a lot of talented people who make A/V productions here and I like that people are able to share this with each other and with the world,” Ryan Kruse, A/V contributor said.

Many contributors gained confidence in their creative abilities as their work gets published.

“It makes me a little tiny bit more confident in my own writing abilities, which is not something I had before this,” contributor and editor, Maddie Schuh said.

The Quercus staff is excited that the volume is officially released and hopes that everyone finds something they enjoy. To check out this year’s volume and all of the previous volumes, go to www.sauquercus.com
