Student Life

Fighting Bee: Maxwell Rumpf

Why did you choose to attend SAU?

“A very good school academically, was close to home and had the opportunity to play baseball at some of the best facilities in the Midwest. Good student to teacher ratio.”

How has the baseball experience been here for your 4 years?

“Good, we have become better and better each year I have played on the team. Met some lifelong friends that I will always keep in contact with. Love traveling and playing all over.”

What are you majoring in? How did you decide on that major?

“Finance and Marketing. I have always liked numbers and finance had a wide variety of paths that I could use with that degree. Marketing is something I picked up my sophomore year and really enjoyed the classes and the major.”

How has juggling grad school and sports been compared to undergraduate?

“Being able to focus on two classes each 8 weeks makes it easier to maintain your focus on those two instead of having 4 to 6 classes. Completing work online and having great professors has made it very obtainable to play and continue my education.”

What has been your favorite moment so far at SAU?

“Florida Trips with the baseball team.”

What are you planning to do after your last year of baseball?

“Head up to the twin cities in Minnesota to start a 7-Month training program with Federated Insurance.”

What’s one piece of advice for anyone looking to obtain their master’s degree?

“Stay consistent, don’t get overwhelmed when you get a lot of things assigned at once. Take the time to relax and really go through the class and don’t be afraid to reach out of your comfort zone.”
