Lauren Koutouzis is a sophomore at St. Ambrose University and is a part of the women’s lacrosse team. Originally from Glencoe, Illinois, Koutouzis has helped, along with her other teammates, achieve one of its biggest accomplishments in years.
Lacross has been a part of Koutouzis’s life for 10 years, and the position she plays here at SAU is a midfielder.

“I started in 5th grade and fell in love with it,” Koutouzis said. “It’s given me an outlet and been my safe haven since the 5th grade.”
For the first time, the SAU women’s lacrosse team has the highest win streak of 7-0 in the program’s history.

“We had our season cut short last year which was devastating and this feels like our comeback,” Koutouzis said. “A lot of people didn’t think that we’d be a threat in any way but we have such a talented team that works harder and harder every day.”
When choosing where she wanted to attend college, Koutouzis knew exactly where she wanted to go—St. Ambrose.

“I was scouted and asked to come for a camp,” Koutouzis said. “I loved the campus and atmosphere and felt like I belonged since the second I stepped foot on campus.”
When thinking about all of the different memories made on the lacrosse team, Koutouzis couldn’t help but smile reflecting on what’s made lacrosse here at SAU so enjoyable.

“I love my teammates. We’re undefeated currently and I have never been prouder of a group of girls in my entire life,” Koutouzis said. “My best friends are my teammates and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
