The holiday season is upon us, which means it’s almost time for a much needed break. This upcoming break is a perfect time to catch up, not only on sleep, but some music that you may have missed in the midst of all the craziness of the near end of the semester. Here are some new releases that topped the charts this November.

Pop: love // Michael Bublé

Michael Buble, recently released his 10th studio album on November 16th, after a two year hiatus. This Canadian singer and songwriter, is famous for his easy going, relaxing music, and his fans were much awaiting this album. One of the more most popular songs off this album is “When I Fall In Love.” The song begins very soft, in typical Buble fashion. The soft love song, fades from the romantic instrumental to his soothing baritone. This romantic song slowly picks up, but there is a constant focus on his vocals, with a soft romantic instrumental that compliments his vocals. The next most popular song off this album is, “Love You Anymore,” which begins much more upbeat than the previous one, but still has a romantic feel for it. Like the previous song, the instrumental compliments Buble’s vocals rather than overpowering his voice. While this song is more upbeat it still is very relaxing, and soothing. If you’re looking for a romantic soothing album to listen to this holiday season, this is the album for you.

Popular songs: Love you anymore, Such a Night

Hip Hop/R&B: The Sunset Tapes: A Cool Tape Story // Jaden Smith

This song focuses on Smith’s rapping, but has a perfect upbeat instrumental complimenting his vocals. Another famous song off this album is “A Calabasas Freestyle.” This song immediately begins with Smith’s rapping, and has a very simple beat so listeners can focus on his voice and the lyrics. The beat is very simple, but still pretty upbeat, but very subtle. If you’re interested in rap music with good beats, this is the album to listen to.

These Chicago natives just released their tenth studio album on Nov. 16. This band is known for their alternative rock style of music. They have great instrumentals, and amazing vocals in this song. The next popular song, “Silvery Sometimes.” This song begins very upbeat, with their wonderful instrumentals, then quickly brings in great vocals.
