An outside contractor working above the stage in Galvin Fine Arts Center at St. Ambrose University died Wednesday morning in a work-related accident.

Around 10:37 a.m. on Sept. 26, Tim Cook sustained injuries consistent with a fall and was transported to Genesis Medical Center where he died shortly after arriving, the Davenport Police Department wrote on their Facebook page.

In an email sent out to the St. Ambrose campus, President Sr. Joan informed the campus of the accident.

“I know you will join us in prayer for the victim’s family,” Sr. Joan’s email read.

She also encouraged students, faculty and staff to seek support from counseling services and campus ministry during this time.

In another statement made available to local media outlets, Craig DeVrieze, director of communications for the communications and marketing office at St. Ambrose, confirmed that the accident remains under investigation and directed further questions regarding the accident to the Davenport Police Department.

Our university's thoughts and prayers are with the victim's family,” the statement said.

The next issue on Oct. 25 will contain a larger story with details on what the university’s emergency response process entails and will include interviews with Craig Devrieze and the Director of Security Robert Christopher.
