Name: Emilio Mancha

Major: Economics and Management

Why did you decide to come to SAU?

It was the right choice for me academically and athletically. I had three close friends already attending SAU and found out that another friend would be attending, so it was a no brainer.

What was your reaction to winning CCAC Athlete of the week?

I was shocked once I realized what it was. At first I thought it was a recap from the race, but quickly read it and got a little embarrassed to be honest.

What other sport would you play besides Cross country and track?

Ultimate frisbee, hands down. All you gotta do is check twitter for that one (the “15 days till move in” tweet from SAU).

Did you expect to be having this good of a season?

I was hopeful, but also pretty scared. Last year during cross country I was in a boot and during track I was on crutches with the same injury.

You have been All American in track, What do you prefer cross country or track?

It’s pretty hard to decide, I’ve been doing both my entire life. I love Fall and running through trails, but track has shorter distances and race-walking which is pretty awesome.

Gun to my head, I’d have to say cross country.

What are your plans after graduation?

I hope to find a position in data analytics or data science. Over the summer I had a data analytics internship with the Iowa 80 Group and I loved it.
