New Music on The Stinger in 2018

The beginning of 2018 brings a lot of promising new music to The Stinger. KALA’s The Stinger is an online radio station by students, for students. Every week the latest music from the best up and coming artists is added to The Stinger.

The first new artist who graced my ears and The Stinger’s air waves, is named Soccer Mommy. Bedroom pop musician Sophie Allison’s stage name is Soccer Mommy. In the past she has released two full length albums, in 2016 and 2017. Her next album Clean will be released March 2nd, 2018. Her first single is called “Your Dog” and can be heard on The Stinger. I am very excited to hear the rest of the album in March.

Django Django from London has released their third full-length album Marble Skies in January and it has made its way to KALA airwaves. The band hasn’t released music since 2015 when they released Born Under Saturn. The art rock album offers smooth and easy listening that’s great for studying or relaxing on a snowy night. The title track “Marble Skies” can be heard on The Stinger.

While winter seems like it’s going to last forever, Calamity The Kid reminds me that warm weather is just around the corner. Their 2018 EP release Late Bloomers combines indie and punk to create a sub-genre that makes you feel happy. The tracks “American Muscle” and “Die Young” are currently playing on The Stinger.

The new year is going to keep bringing the music of talented new artists to KALA. You can listen to The Stinger on the go by downloading the TuneIn app, and searching The Stinger. It’s that easy.
